This is a closed species. I don't think I'd need to say it but, obviously I came up with all of this for my own personal use. If you're seriously after coming up with some alien species there is literally an online random alien species generator on the internet that's probably way cooler than this. Go use that.

Species: Arderian

Home-World: Arderia

Arderians are a race of telepathic aliens who have strong, long limbs with claws sharp enough to tear open a number of materials, and can dig through even the toughest of soil. They also have the ability to change their appearance at will and have highly ordered and logical minds. They are obsessed with learning more about the universe around them, and many have ventured out into space to explore the sea of stars, and see what other beings inhabit other planets.
Arderians are omnivores, content with eating both meat and the vegetation that grows naturally on their planet's warm, airid climate. Despite being very accustomed to living on a warm world, they cannot settle anywhere near the planet's equator where the high temperature exceeds what their bodies can handle. Many use their large clawed hands to dig tunnels underground where it is cool and safe from the heat. As such, theyre quite adept at digging, or moving large objects such as boulders and other such things.

Their bodies are slim, lankey and tall, some Alderians can reach a standing height of 7'. 
They posses immense strength in their arms and hands, and their claws are capable of slicing through many hard materials.
Their skin is dense and tough, almost armor-like, but not impenetrable. They are however resistant to scrapes from sharp pointed rocks.
Arderian's tails are prehensile, capable of picking up objects or moving about as they wish them to.
Many Arderians communicate telepathically, however they are very much capable of forming coherent words and speaking aloud fluently in their language, and can learn other languages as well.
They are capable of changing their appearance; changing their color (so arderians aren't always the blue color drawn above) as to help with camouflage with their surroundings, or using camouflage can turn somewhat invisible, or even taking on a human form, although to do so takes much practice and very few young Arderians are capable of changing their shape so drastically without much practice or training.

Arderians are capable of many things, but not right from birth. They grow stronger and more capable as they age. Young Arderians cannot communicate telepathically as well as adults, are smaller, and overall weaker and more suseptible to injury than adults, as their skin is not as tough.

Adult Arderians look after their young, much like human parents would, and the young aren't considered adults until they are of 20 years of age.
Arderians are social creatures, who live in groups of families and friends. They thrive in a happy community, many Arderians who wander the planet alone die or have simply never been seen again. However this does not stop some individuals from taking off on their own to live their lives in solitude or traversing the large world of Arderia, or even going offworld to visit other planets, solar systems and galaxies.

Their life span is quite long, when not affliced by external influences such as sickness, disease or fighing, a healthy Arderian can live up to 100-150 years old. Some even longer. The species has a healthy gene pool so genetic mutation, or proneness to certain disease or other abnormalities is uncommon.

Arderians are very capable of fighting, however by nature they are typically peaceful creatures. They do not seek to conquer other worlds, and are perfectly content and proud of their home-world, Arderia. Though they are peaceful, they will fight tooth and nail to defend their home-world, or even protect other planets from conquering invaders.
However, this peaceful nature may not reside within all Arderians, and there have been cases of rebellion against the planet's government. Others seek to conquer other planets, however a large majority see no reason to.

Although Arderians are intellegent, they are not at the top of the food chain, and are often preyed upon by larger, monster-like beasts that lurk above ground. Arderians manage to keep themselves hidden and a safe distance away from these large creatures, but sometimes they arent so lucky. The large beasts can easily dig into arderians underground homes if they happen to stumble upon them. But since arderians live in groups, they work together to protect each other and fight off their predators. Otherwise, they simply avoid them to the best of their abilities.
Being as they live underground, Arderians have very good eyesight in dim-lit and dark areas. It takes them a while to adjust to bright sunlight or artificial light, but it doesn't bother them much.

They are very susceptible to cool temperatures, as they're more similar to cold-blooded reptiles. They function far better in warmer climates, and can become sluggish, lethargic and are weakened in cold temperatures. They'd much prefer laying out on the hot sand than building a snowman on a cold winter day. Snow and ice are essentially nonexistent on their planet, as far as any Arderians have explored, anyways.
